Singapore, 29 August 2019 –  Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS) returns from 13 to 22 September 2019, with exclusive race-themed lifestyle experiences that extend the excitement of  the FORMULA 1 2019 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX beyond the track.

For the first time, the race season will include precinct parties at four iconic locations in Singapore – Orchard Road, Clarke Quay, Kampong Glam, and Jewel Changi Airport. Each precinct party will feature a curated line-up of offerings, and will give both locals and visitors the opportunity to experience the unique characteristics of each location.

Visitors looking to soak up some local music can head to the historic Kampong Glam precinct, to catch a showdown between Singapore’s best buskers in the Glam Voice! competition. Families who head over to Jewel Changi Airport will love the kid-friendly activities that include virtual reality and remote-control racing games. Over at Orchard Road, visitors can enjoy some truly Singaporean retail and dining experiences, as well as watch the shopping belt come alive with memorable live performances on the rooftop of Design Orchard. For those keen on nightlife, there’s no shortage of F1 after-parties at Clarke Quay, with many bars and clubs offering themed parties and attractive promotions.

All precinct parties will feature innovative race-themed programming, from a chance to experience what it’s like to be an F1 race mechanic in the Red Bull Pit Stop Challenge or a McLaren race car driver in a racing simulator game, to bringing the family for a joy ride and carnival at BMWFestSG, and taking a go-kart for a spin in the heart of the city.

Ms Jean Ng, Executive Director, Sports, Singapore Tourism Board, said, “With the strong support of our stakeholders the 12th edition of Grand Prix Season Singapore is set to deliver more dynamic and original experiences that further set Singapore apart from other race destinations. We are also confident that extending GPSS into some of our most iconic locations will not only allow more fans, visitors, and Singaporeans to be part of the race excitement, but also drive awareness about our local offerings. This will further enhance Singapore’s appeal as a vibrant leisure destination.”

This year, race ticket holders can also look forward to in-circuit concert headliners such as Swedish House Mafia, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fatboy Slim and Gwen Stefani, as well as fringe acts and performances. They are also entitled to special GPSS discounts and offers at various participating attractions, museums, dining and retail outlets and more.

Some other highlights of GPSS 2019 are:

A racing festival with activities for all ages

The Festival of Speed, organised by home-grown virtual racing league Legion of Racers, is a curation of heart-pumping race-themed activations happening island-wide. Visitors to the Orchard Road precinct party can satisfy their need for speed at the pop-up Go-Kart track in the Grange Road car park and on racing simulators at the Gallery of Speed along Orchard Road. For those who prefer their fast cars with a side of alcohol and music, the festival also features an e-sports racing simulator experience within Zouk.

A night with F1® legends at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel

Get up close and personal with three F1 world champions at the Legends Unite gala dinner. Held at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel, guests can take in the stunning architecture and rich heritage while enjoying a menu featuring locally-inspired dishes by three-Michelin-starred celebrity chef Alvin Leung. There are also performances by award-winning pianist Van Anh and an international DJ, and paintings by renowned artists on display.

The crowning of Asia Pacific’s fastest e-sports star

McLaren Shadow Project brings the search for its next e-sports team member to Asia, culminating in the “Race to Singapore” at Marquee Singapore. The top eight virtual racers from across the region will battle it out in front of a live audience for a spot in the McLaren Shadow finals, which will take place at the McLaren Technology Centre in the UK. In a showdown that parallels the Singapore F1 race, racers will compete in F1®2019, the official videogame of the 2019 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, in the same McLaren MCL34 that drivers Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz will take to the circuit that weekend.

Seek out a secret pop-up party

A special edition of Escape 56 series, a pop-up club that appears for one night only in an undisclosed location, will join the vibrant mix of nightlife offerings surrounding the Singapore night race. Dance the night away at this one-of-a-kind party, co-organised by Blackout Agency and Jägermeister, which will be headlined by electronic music producer and composer, Henrik Schwarz, and other top international guest DJs.
