Suspension of Travel Agent Licences: Alert Co, Success Express, RJ Travels, Sai Universal Holidays, Szimsai Holidays Events and TIS365
27 August 2019 – The Singapore Tourism Board (“STB”) would like to inform the public that six travel agents have been suspended from conducting travel agent activities with effect from 26 August 2019, in accordance with the Travel Agents Act (Chapter 334).
The six travel agents are:
· Alert Co Pte. Ltd. (travel agent licence number 02884)
· Success Express Pte Ltd (01474)
· RJ Travels Pte. Ltd. (02832)
· Sai Universal Holidays Pte. Ltd. (02782)
· Szimsai Holidays Events Pte. Ltd. (03030)
· TIS365 (Private Limited) (03091)
The suspension is the result of the companies’ failure to submit their audited statement of accounts within 6 months after the close of their financial year.
The suspension will remain effective until the travel agents submit their audited accounts, or for up to 6 months – at which point STB will decide on the next course of action. During the period of suspension, the travel agents are required to fulfil their existing obligations to their customers, but will not be allowed to accept new travel bookings.
The submission of audited accounts is a requirement under the Travel Agents Regulations. A failure to submit the audited accounts within the stipulated deadline raises concern over a company’s ability to meet the minimum financial requirements as mandated under the Travel Agents Regulations.
STB takes a serious view against errant travel agents, and will not hesitate to take necessary actions to protect the reputation of Singapore’s travel industry.
