Often the first touch point for visitors to Singapore, tourist guides are important ambassadors in ensuring a high quality and unforgettable​ experience for our visitors.

As Singapore's tourism landscape evolves, tourist guides are also expected to deliver a more differentiated experience to meet the changing expectations and profile of visitors.

STB works closely with industry stakeholders to develop capabilities while maintaining a relevant lic​ensing and regulatory environment.

STB supports tourist guides' role in delivering bespoke experience expected of a world-class tourist destination in the following ways:

  • Identifying training opportunities to raise tourist guide capabilities;

  • Raising the professionalism of tourist guides through collaboration efforts with industry associations;

  • Ensuring that the licensing regime for tourist guides remain relevant to the evolving tourism industry; and

  • Upholding the integrity of the STB Tourism Board Act and Tourist Guide Regulations.




​​Persons interested in providing guiding services for remuneration in Singapore must possess a General Tourist Guide licence.

The amended Singapore Tourism Board Act has recently been passed in Parliament in February 2014, and the change in definition including other legislative amendments will be implemented progressively over the second half of 2014. More information will be shared shortly​.
