22 February 2018 – The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) would like to inform the public that Konsortium Express and Tours Pte Ltd [travel agent licence number 01210] (Konsortium) has been served a notice of revocation on 22 February 2018, in accordance with the Travel Agents Act (Chapter 334). The revocation is due to Konsortium's announcement that it has ceased operation since 22 February 2018 as stated in notices posted at its office and website.
Affected consumers who have purchased travel insurance prior to the closure should approach their insurance providers for assistance. Consumers who are not covered by travel insurance can seek the help of the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) or the Small Claims Tribunal (SCT), where appropriate.
NATAS's Surface Transport Committee is rallying local transport operators to take over affected bookings if necessary.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind consumers to take measures to protect themselves, such as paying by instalments and purchasing travel insurance that provides coverage for unforeseen events such as when a travel agent becomes insolvent.
For the latest list of licensed travel agents in Singapore, please visit the Travel Related Users' System (TRUST) website, https://trust.yoursingapore.com. Travel agents may also email us at email@example.com for related licensing queries.
In accordance with the Travel Agents Act, Konsortium Express and Tours Pte Ltd will be given till 8 March 2018 to provide reasons to STB against the revocation of their travel agent licence, and should its reasons be turned down by STB, Konsortium will be granted a further 14 days to submit an appeal to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).
