Osaka, Japan, 16 July 2025 – Dreams are taking shape as the Singapore Pavilion, aptly named the Dream Sphere, celebrates the remarkable milestone of welcoming its one millionth visitor at Expo 2025 Osaka.
His Excellency, Ong Eng Chuan, Singapore’s Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner General of the Singapore Pavilion said, “Reaching one million visitors midway through the World Expo demonstrates Singapore’s exceptional achievement in putting together a truly compelling Pavilion - a milestone that Singaporeans can be proud of. The tremendous response from distinguished guests and visitors attests to the deep friendship between Singapore and Japan, and global interest in Singapore's vision for the future. Through the Singapore Pavilion, we reinforce Singapore’s position on the world stage, showcasing innovation, sustainability, and inclusiveness that Singapore shares with Japan and partners around the world. We look forward to strengthening these connections and fostering new collaborations in the months ahead.”
This milestone achievement is made more meaningful by the positive responses from visitors. As shared by Ms Yabune Nao, an office worker who visited with her mother, “I visited twice and both experiences were wonderful. The Pavilion’s exterior design is impressive and stands out wherever you look from. The exhibits inside, especially the paper cutting art, had a healing effect, thoughtfully crafted to resonate with both children and adults alike. The area where we can write our dreams also provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect."
Key Highlights Since Opening
The Singapore Pavilion has emerged as a diplomatic and cultural nexus, marked by a historical royal visit from Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko, daughter of Their Majesties Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, further strengthening the bilateral ties between Singapore and Japan.

In addition to diplomatic milestones, the Pavilion has become a vibrant stage for Singapore’s cultural diversity. From the powerful movements of Readeafination, Singapore’s internationally acclaimed deaf dance group, to the dynamic performances of The Island Voices, Shazza and Shruti, the Dream Sphere has created valuable opportunities for these artists to perform before international audiences, further elevating Singapore’s creative presence on the global stage.
HeritageSG brought Singapore’s rich traditions to life by the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) practitioners, deepening appreciation for Singapore’s rich traditions through interactive demonstrations.

SG Enable’s Fireside Chat on inclusive spaces fostered meaningful connections, paving the way for cross-border knowledge sharing on inclusive initiatives.
The Pavilion has also catalysed significant business exchanges between Singapore and Japan. Through industry events hosted by Singapore agencies including Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Economic Development Board, Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau (SECB) and Jurong Town Corporation, companies have explored new trade and investment opportunities.

This momentum was further strengthened by the signing of a three-year Memorandum of Cooperation between Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau (SECB) and Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Singapore.
Furthermore, knowledge-sharing sessions by educational institutions like National Technological University and Singapore University of Technology and Design have sparked discussions on Singapore’s future in innovation and technology and demonstrated their collaborations with Japanese partners.
