What does this mean for tourism businesses?
Building on the Unity, Resilience and Solidarity Budgets, the Government has unveiled the S$33 billion Fortitude Budget, to help businesses and individuals adapt and build resilience amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of the Fortitude Budget, tourism businesses can tap on the following:
1. KEEPING WORKERS EMPLOYED
The JSS will be extended by one month to cover wages paid in August 2020, bringing the total wage support under the JSS to ten months. The support for August 2020 wages will be paid out in October 2020.
For firms that are not allowed to resume operations, the Government will continue providing wage support at 75% until August 2020 or when allowed to reopen, whichever is earlier.
There will also be increased support for some affected sectors including MICE and tourism event organisers.
