The Training Industry Professionals in Tourism (TIP-iT) supports tourism companies in employee upgrading and leadership development. 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The TIP-iT is open to all Singapore-registered businesses/companies.

Proposed projects should fall under one of the following categories:

·       Employee Upgrading (Training & Course Development) - Provides incentives for training and in-house course development in relevant skill sets to strengthen the capabilities of the workforce to support business transformation plans and job redesign efforts in tourism. Scope of training supported includes upskilling and deep-skilling in existing, new, emerging or specialised skills, enhanced service delivery and overseas study trips, attachments and exchange programmes.

·       Leadership Development - Aims to strengthen the pipeline of Singaporeans & Permanent Residents who are able to take on leadership roles and responsibilities, by supporting them in acquiring critical leadership competencies, as well as to gain global exposure .

Activities Supported

Training supported:

•        Upskilling and deep-skilling in existing, new, emerging or specialised skills

•        Enhanced service delivery

•         Overseas study trips, attachments or exchange programmes

Course Development by applicant company

•                Certified structured training (e.g. Masters’ courses)

•                In-house leadership development programmes (e.g. with OJT and cross-function rotation coupled by trainees going through short courses for upskilling/reskilling)

·       Overseas study trips, attachments or exchange programmes

Qualifying Costs

Up to 70% of qualifying costs, which include:

  • Course Fees

Up to 50% of qualifying costs, which include:

  • Cost of Living
    Allowance (COLA)
  • Economy Airfare

Absentee Payroll support at $4.50 per hour



Up to 70% of qualifying costs, which include:

  • Trainer Fees
    (includes courseware development
    /customisation)

Up to 50% of qualifying costs, which include:

  • Economy Airfare for overseas trainer
  • Accommodation for overseas trainer

Up to 70% of qualifying costs, which include:

  • Course Fees
  • Trainee Stipend/ Salary Support

Up to 50% of qualifying costs, which include:

  • Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)
  • Economy Airfare

 

​​​Funding support is awarded based on STB's evaluation of the scope and merits of the project.

Employers eligible for the Skillsfuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) can also qualify for additional subsidies under the scheme. Please contact Enterprise Singapore at 6898 1800 or click here should you have questions on SFEC.

APPLICATION EVALUATION

Proposed projects will be assessed on how they:

·       Enhance manpower capabilities to bring about improvements in visitor experience and business efficiency, transformation and growth

·       Support the development of new, emerging (e.g., service design, user experience design, digitalisation, data analytics) or specialised (e.g., sustainability) skillsets that will support post-pandemic recovery efforts and sustain long term business growth to build a resilient and future-ready tourism workforce

·       Support the tourism sector in building a pipeline of future leaders through the strengthening of leadership competencies, coupled with global exposure

APPLICATION PROCESS

Interested applicants are advised to provide an executive summary of the proposed project, using the template provided here, to STB_Incentives@stb.gov.sg. An STB officer will be in touch to assist you further. The STB officer in-charge of your project will advise you if your proposed project is eligible for TIP-iT and to proceed with the application.  

Please note that projects that have commenced prior to STB’s offer of the grant may not be eligible.

DISBURSEMENT OF GRANT

Grants will be disbursed to successful applicants on a reimbursement basis, subject to achievement of the agreed project deliverables and milestones. Applicants are required to submit third-party audited documents on qualifying costs for the disbursement of grants, unless otherwise stated.
